On 8 March 2017, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka organized “Curtain-Raiser Reception”at Chandelier Table, Hankyu Department Umeda Main Store and “Thai Night at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017” screening a Thai Film “One Day” at Hankyu Umeda Hall, Hankyu Department Umeda Main Store. The “Curtain-Raiser Reception” was attended by around 250 invited guestsfrom the government and private sectors, non-governmental organizations, Kansai consular corps, media and friends of Thailand in Kansai. Around 400 persons attended the “Thai Night at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017”. Mrs. ChanidaKamalanavin, Deputy Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate-General, presided over the event.
Main objectives of the “Curtain-Raiser Reception”and “Thai Night at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017” were to promote Thai films in Japan on the occasion of 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations and to strengthen Thailand-Japan relations. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka, with the Osaka Asian Film Festival’s coordination, invited 5 quality Thai films to the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017 including “One Day”, “By the Time It Gets Dark”, “Suddenly Twenty”, “A Gift” and “DuayKlaw”. Many of the attendees commended the Royal Thai Consulate-General on organizingthis event and expressed their appreciations and admiration for Thai Films, Thai Film Directors, lead actor and actress of “One Day” who also attended the event.
The “Curtain-Raiser Reception” and “Thai Night at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2017”received generous support from various sectors including Thailand Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations of Thailand, Thai Airways andBoonrawd Trading International Co. Ltd.
