On 17 August 2019, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat delivered the congratulatory remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the Thai Fair Akashi 2019 held on 17 - 18 August 2019 at the Akashi Park in Akashi City, Hyogo Province. The event was organized by a group of Japanese people who are “Friends of Thailand” and love Thailand, with Mr. Junichi Ebisuoka, former professional boxer, as Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
One of the events to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Akashi City and the 400th Anniversary
of Akashi Castle in 2019, Thai Fair Akashi is an event held annually to help strengthen the friendship ties between Thailand and Japan through the variety of cultural exchange activities, namely Thai boxing demonstration, Thai classical dance, Thai music, Thai traditional massage and booths selling Thai food and products.
On this occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka and Thai Airways International, Osaka office, provided lucky draw prizes. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Osaka office, provided a booth to promote Thai tourism.
For 20 years, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Japan have organized Thai Festival events every year. In addition, the Japanese private sector who are “Friends of Thailand” also organized similar events. As such, Thai Fair Akashi 2019, held for the second time this year, is considered one of the goodwill activities which help the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Japan to promote Thailand and strengthen Thai - Japan relations at the people-to-people level.
